Easton toy shop to close on Christmas Eve

A beloved Massachusetts toy store plans to close before the end of the year.

After 25 years, The Village Toy Shop in Easton is shutting its doors on Christmas Eve.

Manager Julie Vaughan said business was impacted about 10 years ago when Target came to town but now there is just too much competition.

Active Easton Police Investigation

EASTON — There is an active police investigation in the area of Bay and Allen roads in Easton at this time. The public and motorists are asked to stay clear of the area at this time to allow emergency vehicles to have access.

It has been determined that there is no danger to the public at this time. Police Chief Gary Sullivan will be addressing the media later this afternoon at the Easton Police Department, and updates will be posted to this website and on social media.

Members of the media are asked to stage at the Easton Police Department, located at 46 Lothrop St. in North Easton.

Shooting at intersection of Bay and Allen. Three gun shot wound victims being reported at this time. One is the suspect. EPD set to speak in a press conference soon.

Hollywood loves making movies in Easton

The town has played host to filming of at least five movies, with three in the last 13 months.

Easton is located about 25 miles from Boston, just off Route 24. The town has several historic buildings and a state park in Borderland. One location manager who has scouted dozens of locations for Hollywood movies previously said he eyed the Ames Mansion at the park for years. “I’ve scouted that house for several movies, but never used it,” Charlie Harrington told The Enterprise last August. “The director looked at five mansions in the area and they drove around to each one and the director picked this one.”…
