Easton Preservation committee (CPA) discusses senior citizens request for 6 pickleball courts

November 16, 2018 – Last night a group of Easton senior citizen residents turned out at the Community Preservation Act Committee (CPA) meeting to hear the initial discussions concerning a CPA request to build 6 new dedicated pickleball courts at the Union Villa field area under the “Recreation use” provision of CPA. This is the first time in town history tha a senior has requested outdoor recreation construction.

Pickleball,  a sport sweeping the nation and popular with seniors, is a low impact aerobic competitive paddle sport  that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis and is an official Town of Easton Recreation Department program with more than 100 players participating. Most of the players are seniors who have been playing on cracked uneven town tennis courts with hand drawn lines and 35 pound portable nets.

Stay tuned for future developments…
