Easton Police Charge Man with Second OUI Offense Following Crash (With Video)

At approximately 11:30pm on Saturday October 7th, Easton Officers responded to a two vehicle head on crash at 370 Depot Street (Route 123).  Upon arrival, Officers discovered that an Infiniti sedan had struck a GMC pickup truck.  Both operators were evaluated by the Easton Fire Department and were found to be uninjured.  The operator of the Infiniti was identified as Thomas Gallagher, age 39 of Waltham.  Gallagher had been traveling eastbound on Depot Street and turned into the westbound lane striking the GMC pickup truck and the trailer that was attached.  Gallagher later told the investigating officer, Patrolman Nick Fields, that he had been coming from the Town of Framingham and believed that he was currently in the Town of Hopkinton.  He also stated that he had been drinking “Jameson and beer” at TGI Fridays in Milford earlier in the evening.  Officer Fields detected signs of impairment and conducted field sobriety exercises which Gallagher failed.  He was placed under arrest and charged with the following:

Oui Liquor, 2nd Offense

Negligent operation of a motor vehicle

Failure to yield to oncoming traffic

Gallagher was booked at the Easton Police Department and bail was set at $540.00.  He was later transported to the New Bedford House of Correction and is scheduled to be arraigned in Taunton District Court today.
